To enter the Netherlands for study purposes, nationals from non-EU countries need a visa also called an ‘authorisation for temporary stay’ (Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblijf, or MVV). This authorisation (MVV) is an entry visa in the form of a sticker placed in your passport at the Dutch embassy or consulate in your own country (or the country in which you legally reside), but it must be applied for well in advance. Read more about visas.

Students with a visa for entering the Netherlands (MVV) will apply for their residence permit (based on study)  in the first week after arrival and with the help of the Avans International Office. Read more about the residence permit.
