The course consists of an introduction and a language programme to ensure your smooth transition to our international 4-year bachelor’s degree programmes. The course provides classes and training sessions in:
- English. There will be English language lessons preparing you for a band score of 6.0 for the Academic Module of the IELTS exam
- An introduction to Western European and Dutch culture: introduction to Western European culture, customs and politics
- Study skills: an introduction to our educational system and working methods and our way of assessment, relevant communication and ICT skills, speaking, writing, presentations, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, learning to work in our digital learning environment Blackboard.
In addition to the above classes, students will take part in fieldwork activities and excursions and self-study periods. You are expected to prepare for the classes, carry out assignments and complete exercises outside the classroom environment. Sufficient time spent on self-study outside classes is essential for the successful completion of this course.
The Avans Prep Course will end with an official Academic IELTS exam. On successful completion of the programme you will receive a certificate issued by Avans University of Applied Sciences, together with an official IELTS certificate.
