The Avans Prep Course is offered to students who require additional subject knowledge and English language training for admission to the bachelor’s degree programmes in
- International Business and Management Studies (IBMS)
- Finance and Control (F&C)
- Environmental Science for Sustainable Energy and Technology (ESSET)
- International Maintenance Management (IMM)
at Avans University of Applied Sciences.
This Prep Course forms an introduction to our bachelor’s degree programmes and helps you to acquire a sufficient command of the English language, Dutch culture, specific subject knowledge and ICT, to enable your smooth transition to our 4-year bachelor’s degree programmes.
Depending on the level of your English language skills, you can enrol for a full-year or a half-year Preparatory Course. We expect students who take an active and committed approach towards this course to pass the IELTS* exam with an overall band score of at least 6 at the end of the Prep Course. This is a legal prerequisite for the enrolment of non-European students on Dutch international bachelor’s degree programmes. Moreover, you will be well-prepared and ready to enrol on our bachelor’s degree programmes and experience a successful transition.
Please note:
All four-year English bachelor’s degree programmes at Avans University of Applied Sciences start in September. Please ensure that your Preparatory Course is coordinated with the bachelor’s degree programme you will follow.
If they are not coordinated, please be aware that your visa is valid only (and you can only stay in the Netherlands) if you have paid your tuition fees and are following lessons. So if you finish your Preparatory Course in February, you may not be able to stay in the Netherlands until you start your bachelor’s degree programme (in September).
A residence permit for the Preparatory Course is valid for one year only and cannot be extended.
