International Business and Languages
Interested in an international study programme, that teaches you not only international business but also three foreign languages? And are you interested in spending two semesters abroad to study and to carry out a work placement?
The programme
IBL focuses on international trade and covers topics such as international finance, purchase management, marketing and business ethics. However, as it is an international study programme students also learn about cultural differences and languages.
Practice versus theory
IBL students not only attend courses but are given project assignments at the beginning of each period (each semester consists of 2 periods) that require them to apply the theory taught during their courses.
To ensure that a high linguistic level is achieved, every IBL student travels abroad for one semester in the second year to follow a study programme abroad, and one semester in the third year to carry out a work placement abroad; therefore at least two compulsory semesters abroad during the entire study programme.
General information
The first two semesters are almost entirely in Dutch, except for the second 10-week term, which is taught in English. Every semester (end of August/beginning of February), a number of international students – mostly German students – come to Avans Den Bosch to attend the full-time International Business and Languages study programme over a period of 3 and a half years.
In addition to the regular courses, the department offers a Dutch language course to guarantee smooth communication with fellow students and lecturers. After the first semester, the student will have acquired the Dutch language to such an extent that he/she can communicate without any further problems, write project papers and take all exams in Dutch.
Are you interested in our study programme that consists of partly marketing-related (core area) subjects, partly language courses (second main focus: English, French, Spanish, German/Dutch) and a project? On successful completion of all courses and semesters, each student will be awarded a Bachelor of Commerce diploma.
