If you will be staying in the Netherlands for more than 5 months, you must register at the city hall of the town where you are going to live.
The International Office at Avans will make an appointment for your registration at the city hall the first week after your arrival. After you have been registered as new citizen/inhabitant, you will receive your Burgerservicenummer (citizen service number).
IMPORTANT
Do NOT go to the city hall or the Belastingdienst by yourself to obtain a Burgerservicenummer (BSN). This has to be done through Avans in order to avoid any errors and miscommunication.
Please note:
When you leave the Netherlands you must inform the city hall about this. Inhabitants of Breda must fill out this form. Inhabitants of 's-Hertogenbosch must fill out this form. Unfortunately both city halls only provide this form in Dutch.
