Student rooms in the Netherlands
There is no campus at Avans University of Applied Sciences. You will therefore be living within the city of Breda, ‘s-Hertogenbosch or Tilburg. Travelling from your room to Avans will take you 10 to 20 minutes. In the Netherlands it is very common to ride a bike to get around the city and to get to school.
Description of an apartment offered by Avans
The apartments accommodate 2-3 students. Each student has a private room and shares a kitchen, bathroom, toilet and sometimes a living room. A washing machine is available in each flat and all private rooms are equipped with the following items:

- Wardrobe
- Wastepaper basket
- Desk
- Chair
- Table lamp

Rent
The rent is between € 350 and € 500 per month, depending on the size of the room. The rent is based on the rental prices that apply during the first academic semester. Gas, electricity and water are included. The rent is to be paid by standing order and will be debited from your bank account approximately halfway through each month.
Meals are not included in the rent. Students prepare their own meals in the communal kitchen.
Allocation of rooms
Students following different international study programmes at Avans and students of different nationalities and different sexes can be placed together in an apartment.
Cooking & cleaning
The cleaning and upkeep of the apartment is the responsibility of the student. You must keep your own room clean. Together with the other residents in an apartment, you are responsible for maintaining the shared facilities in a hygienic state. You are expected to take care of your accommodation.
Insurance
The personal belongings of tenants must be insured by the tenants themselves. You should also check whether your third-party liability and health insurance can be extended to cover you throughout your stay in the Netherlands.
