Before applying to Avans University of Applied Sciences, you should carefully read through the admissions requirements for the study programme you want to follow. Check the specific requirements for your study programme.
Diplomas
A Dutch HAVO, VWO or MBO (level 4) diploma or equivalent international diploma is generally required to enrol on a study programme at Avans University of Applied Sciences. With regard to diplomas from abroad, we are often able to give applicants a fairly quick indication as to whether they are equivalent to the Dutch diplomas in question. In the event of uncertainty, we have the diplomas evaluated by NUFFIC (Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education). English language skills
EEA students:
There are no official English language skill requirements for EEA students. However, a sufficient level of English is required for all our international programmes taught in English. The minimal level required can be compared to the level of English achieved on completion of secondary school.
Non-EEA students:
Applicants must achieve a minimum test score in order to follow a study programme taught in English. The required result depends on the English language test.

Exchange students:
For information on the English language requirements, please check the admissions requirements for the relevant study programme.
These requirements naturally do not apply to native English speakers.
One exception to this is the English language skills required for the Prep Course. Please check the requirements for the Preparatory Course.
Dutch language skills
Applicants must have an NT2 diploma in order to follow a study programme taught in Dutch. Different language skills requirements apply to German students. Please contact the International Office at internationaloffice@avans.nl or on +31 76 523 80 01 for more detailed information. NT2 courses are provided by various educational institutions in the three Avans cities.
