Lecturers: practical researchers
Developing and applying knowledge is of the utmost importance for an innovative knowledge society. Exchanging knowledge with regional businesses and organisations is therefore a key objective of Avans University of Applied Sciences. This exchange is significantly boosted by the fact that lecturers at Avans University of Applied Sciences have been active in various subject areas for a number of years now.

Lecturers are people who have won their spurs in their subject area. They use their knowledge and experience for research and innovation within education and professional practice. As a result they can make significant contribution to businesses and organisations as well as to teachers and students.

Each lecturer sets up a knowledge network, consisting of teachers and external experts. This knowledge network and the students at Avans University of Applied Sciences – tomorrow’s professionals – can work together with businesses and organisations in various ways: by means of a (final) project, applied research or a work placement. These forms of cooperation are extremely interesting to organisations wishing to develop new products and/or services.

On the one hand it is all about responding to knowledge-related questions from the market and society. On the other it is about modernisation of education, rasing the level of teaching and an improved distribution of knowledge. These two objectives make a productive combination in the lectureship.
