Place in the curriculum
The minor Procurement is offered twice a year and takes up a complete semester. The language used throughout the minor is English.
Description of theme(s) and the learning objectives
The theme is Procurement. The learning objectives are:
- To understand the strategic value of procurement in running a business.
- To be able to analyse a product portfolio from the perspective of procurement.
- To recognize the importance of procurement conditions.
- To be able to advise about changes in the process of procurement at a strategic level.
- To acquire knowledge of the influence cultural differences can have on the procurement function.
- To understand the financial consequences of different procurement strategies.
- To understand the legal consequences of procurement strategies.
- To find practical solutions for problems related to procurement. This happens in the project groups.
- To improve the level of English writing and speaking skills.
- To recognize the ethical aspects of the procurement function.
- To get to know the basic principles of Supply Chain Management.
Professional products
Throughout the semester students work at products. These products are related to procurement, supply chain management or the investigation of suppliers.
Teaching forms
Lecture (l); tutorial (t); project meetings (pm); guest lecture (gl); working independently in groups of 4 to 7 students with 1 lecturer who supervises the project group.
The courses are given from week 1 – 7; week 8,9 and 10 are reserved for self-study and examination.
