Finance and Control

Top Education
For the fourth time in a row the “Keuzegids HBO” (Higher Professional Education Options Guide) has named Avans University of Applied Sciences the best major university of applied sciences in the Netherlands. What’s more, the results of their survey have shown that Avans offers the best International Business and Management Programme in the Netherlands.

Network of International Business Schools
A delegation from the Network of International Business Schools recently visited the Avans School of International Studies (ASIS) to investigate whether ASIS can be accredited as an international business school according to the NIBS criteria .

On the 19th of May 2011, during the annual NIBS conference, the school received an official certificate of this accreditation.

The auditors wrote a report on their findings. This report states that the results of the self-assessment produced a score of 76, a score that comfortably exceeds the 50% minimum pass mark and lies close to the maximum that in the panel’s view is realistically attainable.

The panel felt that the School has achieved a very high level of internationalisation in every area of its activities, underpinned by seemingly universal support by staff and students for its international goals and vision.

About Finance and Control
In the modern business world, national borders are becoming less and less distinct and money flows are becoming increasingly international. To be competitive in the global environment, it is important for organisations to organise, implement and monitor their activities. The information arising from this process is crucial for proper managerial decision-making. This requires specialists in the field of international finance and control.

To cater to the need for these specialists, Avans University of Applied Sciences has developed a special bachelor’s degree programme in Finance and Control, which is fully taught in English. This four-year study programme, which started in 2010, is highly international in scope and covers all major aspects of finance and control that are essential to international business.

Preparing you for professional practice
To prepare you for the international professional field, the programme comprises two semesters of practical training: a one-semester work placement and a one-semester graduation assignment for an international company.

The close involvement of representatives of internationally operating companies in the development and delivery of the programme guarantees that the programme meets the standards of the professional field. You are challenged to run projects with multinational organisations from the very beginning of your studies.

Degree
On completion of the programme you will obtain a Bachelor of Economics degree.

The Finance and Control programme is the English-language equivalent of the Dutch-language Bedrijfseconomie study programme. It is run jointly by Avans School of International Studies and the School of Economics and Business Administration.
